Perched high on a hill overlooking the splendid Baie de Cannes, Mougins is a magnificent village with exceptional charm. Built more than 1,000 years ago at its elevated position of 260 metres above sea level and a stone's throw from the coast,

To the south, one views the Mediterranean Sea, including the "baie de Cannes" and the Lins islands. To the northwest, one looks over the ancient village of Grasse, famous for its perfumeries, and to the northeast one has a clear view of the stunning mountains of the Maritime Alps (Prlpes), while the village is also surrounded by the Valmasque Forest, which covers 427 hectares.

Picasso discovered Mougins in 1935, with photographer Man Ray. And in 1961, at the age of 80, Picasso and his wife Jacqueline moved into the home in which he died in 1972 in a secluded area nestled in the hills of Mougins. Picasso's studio was in the old village in a building that is now the tourist office, while the studio of Fernand Ler was above what is now the village wine shop, next to the rear of the Mougins Museum of Classical Art (MMoCA).

Mougins is home of prestigious restaurants such as "Le Moulin de Mougins " and "Le Restaurant Candille". One can also enjoy lesser-known establishments which offer a warm welcome and excellent cuisine, whether traditional French or Provenl.

The Royal Mougins Golf Club, built on the valley estate that belonged to the Countess de Pourtales, is an 18 hole course designed by Robert Won Hagge.
